App-controlled bike U-lock stops working overnight (old.reddit.com)

I own a bicycle GPS tracker which is no longer supported by the maker which went out of business. I have reverse-engineered the protocol, so in theory I can self-host a server, but imagine that were a lock and not just a tracker.
