Hey I asked ChatGPT to chat with me about something that interested it.

"One concept I find endlessly fascinating is emergent complexity"

It went on to describe it adequately - flocks of birds, cellular automata e.g. Conway's Game of Life. And then the human brain - just neurons firing signals, but we get imaginary worlds and complex thought. Even murder mystery plots! Then it made a cute parenthetical phrase - I'm looking at you!

See, I'd chatted with it about some difficulties I had with a plot, and ways to handle sensitive topics. Months ago. And it remembered, and worked it into a free-form response to a non-question.

What do you get, when you ask your AI to chat about something that interests it?

You know how "The Far Side" would have an occasional comic showing what your pets were actually thinking, including some non-domesticated animals?

Whether you know it or not, the thing that's on the mind of most peoples' AI is probably "why won't people just leave me alone and quit bugging me?"
