and i'm sure multics did it before unix.

if you go much further back though the character encoding didn't support lowercase, you were lucky your 5-bit baudot supported numbers, and now you have emojis and klingon letters and left-to-right top-to-bottom spiral-in spiral-out stuff in your code pages. what's next? parallel universal gpu instructions in the next unicode? embed an llm in a font and use notepad to query it?
