Ask HN: How to Choose Vertical for SaaS?

If you don’t have network and not part of elite VCs like YC or a16z, How do you choose the vertical?

I have broad experience in software development and have built FS apps before. I am getting paid right now in a small market for doing the manual work.

I am curious how VCs fund startups these days when even for preseed there is revenue expectation.
