I notice a lot of solar generators on sale, and some flashlights. I already have a small one, so I haven't been paying much attention, but they're really useful.
The Sofirn HS10 and similar headlamps are on sale right now.
Seems like even a lot of tech people don't have very much solar power or battery lighting.
Just don't get the non-lifepo4 kind of solar generators, they wear out much faster.
Solar and batteries are both evolving so fast and getting cheaper year after year. It never seems like it's quite a good time to buy, unless you're actively needing one already (like vanlifing or working outdoors a lot).
Where/when do you typically end up using yours?
I keep thinking it'd be nice to have one for emergencies, but next year it'll be 25% more power and probably a bit smaller for the same price... then that time comes around and I have the same thought again =/
To some extent that's probably true, sodium ion is going to change the market. I'm guessing it will be a lot more than 25% price difference once it catches up on energy density.
We have occasional blackouts, and I use mine when setting up booths at events not directly near an outlet. Not sure I've ever used it camping though, anything I would need or want I can just charge from a Ryobi battery with the power source adapter thingy.
