Legality of Remote-Controlled Parking Barriers Remote-controlled parking barriers are becoming increasingly popular in urban areas, where parking spaces are limited and the need for secure and private parking solutions is growing. However, the question arises: are these devices legal?
my thinking is, in a modern society this kind of barrier is illegal and not accepted for usage in public places. It should be, as everyone is of equal rights. So, if there's a free parking lot, then whoever is the first takes it. That is valid for wheeled vehicels, because the parking lots belong to the driving lane, not the walker-lane. A Remote-Controlled parking barrier can be used on private grounds whereever one wants, though, but not on public.

At least its in my country like that, Germany. You even aren't allowed by law to stand by yourself and block a parking lot, when there's one otha brotha wanting to park. Then its even allowed to carefully push the blocker with car to free up the lot. If one needs a parking lot infront of the house, because furniture transport or delivery, then one goes the official way and lets the blocking done by the municipal services. They're allowed to, if asked upfront.

Happend to me once. I argumented loudly and nearly had a fist fight. Then I went up and looked up the laws, and that was the moment, I learned by all means its illegal to block a public parking lot :)

Thank you very much for sharing your experience.
Oh great, an empty space is a great space because it's your space!
