Not to knock the project, but I always wonder why SQLite is often the odd man out in projects like this.
What do you mean by "odd man out"?
I see many projects that work with Postgres and MySql but not SQLite.
I suspect you know the answer, though: people erroneously believe SQLite isn't up to the task—and then combine that with ego, my project needs a real database.
