Ask HN: What tech initiatives can help Syria recover after dictatorship?

1 points by kassas ↗ HN
I’m looking for ideas on how tech professionals can help Syria rebuild after decades of dictatorship. The country is facing significant challenges, and I’m especially interested in low-cost, tech-driven solutions especially if can be done remotely.

How can we use tech to:

-Support governance and civic engagement (e.g., promoting democratic values, transparency)?

-Provide education and skills training (online platforms, mentorship)?

-Aid economic recovery (job creation, entrepreneurship)?

-Promote social healing and unity (mental health support, dialogue platforms)?

-Ensure access to reliable information (educating citizens on rights, opportunities)?

- What are some scalable, affordable tech initiatives that can make a meaningful impact?

I appreciate it if you have any ideas, references, books, videos, other countries stories that can help get educated about the topic.

You have to find a prob by talking to orgs on the ground and then think about tech applications. Doing it the other way round can be frustrating. Useful to read James C Scotts Seeing like a State.
