Ask HN: How's Twitter doing 2 years post Musk's acquisition

6 points by tra3 ↗ HN
When Musk* acquired Twitter in 2022 and then fired 80% of the workforce I assumed twitter is about to explode. I'm mainly talking about the technical/operational aspect of the website itself.

My perspective comes from my exprience in running web-related businesses. I can't think of anywhere where I've worked where firing 80% of staff would NOT result in significant near term downtime.

As far as I am aware, there certainly have been some issues with twitter the website/product but not nearly as much I would've expected.

What gives? Were twitter systems engineered so well that they are essentially hands off? Was 80% of twitter just dead weight?

Would love to hear about twitter the organization circa 2022 and what it looks like now.

*: I'm not interested in discussing Musk himself, his politics or personality.
