Tell HN: Google Play suspends new app for crashing
Background: I'm a web developer, but have a few popular apps (free, no ads) on the play store. I submitted a new app for review. It was rejected for crashing. I kept trying to fix, but due to being new to native development — and hitting issues with cached builds and proguard (I really shouldn't have enabled it!) — I wasn't able to fix before striking out.
I had no idea that multiple rejections would cause a suspension. Especially a clearly non-malicious re-submission.
The appeal was also denied. I followed up with an email 2 weeks ago. No reply.

Bugs are inevitable. That an app would be suspended for a bug is funny, if it wasn't so kafkaesque. :)

[ 2.6 ms ] story [ 26.9 ms ] thread- I'm allowed to upload the app under another id and name, but changing both with be a pain, especially the name
- Also, if they flag another app, the whole account gets banned
- It seems like there are lots of complains about this new policy: https://old.reddit.com/r/androiddev/comments/1ck1wyp/did_goo...
- Big tech really needs an ombudsman
