Ask HN: What cable modem do you use and how much did it cost?

I've been looking at my old DOCSIS 3.0 which can only do 100Mbps but my Comcast plan alleges 300Mbps. So wondering if I should upgrade but the price is crazy for some of the recommended models to support DOCSIS 3.1+.

Did you check on Craigslist, FB Marketplace, and local thrift stores? Often times they can be found for like $20.
