TLDR spacing out the time when you are asked to recall things helps you remember (recall) them better. There’s an app called supermemo to help with this.
Since the article’s from 2008, you may be wondering what happened to this software, so supermemo is available on the App Store, but is focused on language and not incredibly popular, there’s also a desktop version for windows 10. Anki decks offer the same spaced repetition learning as well and seem to have become more popular so may serve as a replacement.

I’ve been using Anki for a while and can confirm it work extremely well
