But how do they prevent data corruption?
By storing in a dry, cool place and cooking for long enough presumably.
Would be a fun premise for a book... someone finally figures out the error correction encoding scheme, and a vast amount of "junk" or otherwise misunderstood DNA in our biosphere is actually chapters of a historical archive left to us by an advanced biotech civilization from our ancient past.

Depending on what we learn from the archive, it could go more towards sci-fi, fantasy, or horror...
