When I was being shipped to the Great Lakes in 08 for basic, I arrived at the airport with zero identifiers. I don't know how it happened, but I left all my stuff with my family after MEPS and just didn't get it back before leaving. I had to hang around while my recruiter made some calls, and after that I was permitted to board. I wasn't personally screened or grilled by TSA. All of it happened on the backend.
