Ask HN: Is your company still outsourcing to Eastern Europe?

Right before the Russia invasion it seemed outsourcing to Ukraine was the latest craze in the tech industry. One article says the outsourcing was over $7b or 4% of Ukraine's entire GDP before the war.

I know Google and big tech are still hiring in Poland despite Poland adopting an increasing "war is coming" stance.

My personal experience says South America (especially Brazil) is more popular, largely due to the similar time zones. Larger companies with a presence in Europe won't really have that problem, though, so it might be more of a smaller or startup company thing.

that time zone thing is a way bigger PITA than I thought it would be when we expanded to Europe two years ago.
