Ask HN: How to make PDF from a news arcticle / archive.ph?

1 points by albert_e ↗ HN
Is there a good bookmarklet / browser extension or service that lets us convert a webpage into a clean readable PDF (without ads and wired formatting)? Or ame thing for sites like archive.ph?

I remember there was a service some years ago that made clean PDFs -- but the name escapes me now. I was hoping things must have matured even more now -- but the websites have become even more cluttered and loaded with popups and cookie banners instead.

Disclaimer: I asked the same question an year ago as well here : https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38403624

On MacOS and iOS/iPadOS with Safari you can choose Reader View, print (or share on mobile) and then save as PDF.

I believe Windows can also save to PDF through the print option. Don’t know about Linux.

Some web pages will have print-specific CSS that will format nicely without ads, others won’t. I’ve seen some that actively resist printing.
