Ask HN: Why do my "Ask HN" posts not show in the "Ask HN" feed?

1 points by eth0up ↗ HN
Hello,

I am not incapable of missing the obvious, but I do not understand why my "Ask HN" posts remain exclusively in "New" and never reach the "Ask HN" feed.

Any explanation or conjecture on the reasons for this would be appreciated.

My latest "Ask HN" (and Tell HN) posts were regarding the current project to port wicd to python3. Is the culprit possibly the inclusion of the Devuan forum url?

Send such questions to hn@ycombinator.com like explained here https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html
I have, since 2016, refused to use email to ask such questions. I made an exception today and the reply was slightly petulant and did not address my questions. I'm glad I held out so long. I won't do it again.
They show up ... just need to look the right way. [1] It's basically my bookmarked landing spot for visiting each time.

Thanks for the reference. Hopefully it's a forgiveable oversight, considering that url/link isn't normally visible. I'll figure out why I was unaware of this later. But it still doesn't explain some discrepancies.
As far as I know a question needs at least 1-2 upvotes from other users to be listed. Same for Show HN page. Quality or anti-spam feature I guess. Majority of Ask HN receive only little attention, especially the deep technical ones. Questions about "which was your favorite book this year" have it easier.

Your account doesn't look banned, I see all submissions and comments fine.

This comment though https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42585253 "Downvote the comment into oblivion. I'll keep posting until I get an explanation or am banned" won't work. It'll more likely annoy other users. Email the moderators (link in the footer), they're responsive, maybe a little less during holiday season.

"needs at least 1-2 upvotes"

I mentioned that my submission had 3, and the one above it, that was newer, had 2. Mine was absent in the Ask feed and his/hers/its was visible.

I don't make fuss over nothing. I need at least half an anomaly or some clear discrepancy before doing so.

But I'm typically ignored, which I think may be a default feature of many HN replies. All the information is there, for any user with 'show dead' to review.

Thanks for offering some insight though.
