I wonder why the recently adopted Cybercrime Convention isn't a bigger topic on many media sites.

Some lawyers argue that it allows platform data of citizens to be shared with authorities abroad and that it can circumvent national data protection. There are many civil rights group that criticized the topic, but that fact that the convention was adopted was somehow not in the news cycle, as it would especially impact journalists.

Would welcome some thoughts about this.

True, I just thought that it being voted through now would also pose news, as the contents weren't yet set in stone, but the criticized parts are still in the final version. I believe the vote being held on Christmas probably lessened the media echo about this.
