It simply worked better. I live in a country with strong hate speech laws. They don't work and they decrease possibilities for free expression.

It is legislation from the times of monarchy and doesn't fit the modern age. Instead of embracing liberties, my country restricts speech and opinions out of fear until it becomes the birthplace of the next autocratic personality again.

The idea of hate speech is ridiculous in the first place. Of course you are allowed to hate something, just as you are allowed to love it.
