I realise how good I did myself by abandoning most social media a decade back. I just do not feel a median brain can handle so much information, be expected to have informed takes on every topic under the Sun etc.
Ultimately the arbiters of legal/illegal and good/bad will change and continue to evolve with time but worrying about every instance or post beyond my control will not help me in any way nor the cause under concern.
This website is arguably social media. I think the lesson the last decade taught me is social media where you have a profile (attached to your real name or not) where you get to talk to the entire planet or everyone you've ever met in your life is something I have no interest in. That wouldn't be true if I had a public image to maintain, or a business to run, but if that's the case it's purely a PR play (aka brand advertising and largely insincere).
The experiment where you get to be yourself online for everyone in the world to enjoy is a failure to all except the hustlers and bullshitters looking for attention, and extremely naive.
At last we can all go on Facebook and say what we have all been thinking ... people who say "Gay and Trans People Have 'Mental Illness'" have a 'Mental Illness'
The broader policy shift this announcement is part of reads as trying to curry favor with the incoming administration, and it’s really kinda disgusting to watch unfold.
I have a position in both the underlying debate, and to some extent in the debate on what the role of social media platforms is in these debates themselves.
But I don't think my position matters, I don't think a change in policy is enough to warrant retriggering this debate, I don't think monitoring this is healthy, and I'll pass on engaging, thanks.
I assume your position is rather negative towards these developments, which I would understand and agree with. However, this attitude of yours seems to reflect the general mood of 2025: fatigue over everyone important folding to Trump and wanting to please him, us bystanders feeling numb and helpless. Too tired to protest, too burned out for another pointless internet feud. Just watching the new conservative reality unfold.
Also a wrong assumption. I'm surprised that my assumption was incorrect, I would have expected you to be empowered by the recent events to speak up. Wrong forum perhaps.

Sad that the smart, creative pals who work there haven't been tasked / brought helpful ideas to fruition on this issue.
Meaningfully, thumbs down.

Creators and Doom Scrollers. Be the creator.
The wording is fairly specific; one can only be ableist in the context of simultaneously being homophobic/transphobic.
Real great social media website they've got, there.
Unless they happen to be LGBT; then it's fine.
Excellent choice, Mr. Zuckerberg.

Have a nice day.
