Why does this site still suck so much

Can't order by hot/top (what was interesting over the last 48hrs? 7 days? etc).

PG can post his spam and we have to engage it.

The url news.ycombinator.com is of no use to 99% of us, we dont care about PG's startup incubator.

Why is no one setting HN free from PG's reign of mediocrity?

HN is a brilliant website that I use every day.

If you want something different create something that better suits you and share the result on HN.

You can even easily access the data.

There are a couple of cool websites that use the data in different ways. Join the crowd!

not being able to order is important because unless you are on this site 24/7 you will easily miss the 'good' stuff.

You could process the data on a server but I just accept that I will see a daily snapshot of the top 60 or so items. So far I’ve been happy with that approach. Also doesn’t waste too much time.

I haven't gotten autopager to work on the "latest" pages. That would save me a lot of time clicking through pages. I could skim a lot faster.

manage is quite charitable way of saying having a "next/more" button, but not having a "previous" button, lol.
