TikTok Refugees refers to content creators and users who are exploring alternative social platforms due to potential regional restrictions on TikTok in various countries like American, Indonesia, India, and others. These users are seeking new platforms to continue their social media activities and content creation.
I am not into social media, but I would be very happy to see social media fragmenting into many local players.
Hahaha. I love Gen Z! Great response to Zuckerberg and the boomers who have setup this ban.
If this gets big enough, the US gov. will ban it too. This is Chinese owned
Which is exactly what the kids want.
> Social Topics

> Discussion boundaries and social issues

> Multiple Viewpoints

> RedNote requires following official stance; TikTok allows diverse viewpoints within platform rules

> Social Debates

> RedNote prohibits controversial topics; TikTok allows constructive debates within guidelines

"TikTok, but more evil and with greater Chinese influence" is not what I would have predict anyone to want from a clone

The above quote is particularly rich when paired with the following fluff, which appears further down the page:

> Authentic Expression

> Experience true freedom of expression

It is a generational / group / identity thing. TikTok users to don’t want to be forced over to Instagram/YouTube.

Also it is an incredibly humorous response.

Red note apparently is the most downloaded app in the US atm.
There’s an interesting charm to using Mainland China apps which have different tendencies compared to US-first apps. The level of advertising popups and click jacking can sometimes be quite annoying.
