Fascinating. I was curious to see when and if any serious correlated conditions would arise from this class of medication. They're so incredibly popular, I'm sure theres plenty of opportunity to gather data.

Im not sure an increased risk of pancreatitis is going to sway many minds on taking this drug, for cosmetic purposes or for actual diabetes. After all, being diabetic already increases your risk of pancreatitis:

>Incidence rates were 30.1 and 54.0 per 100,000 person-years in the general population and the diabetes cohort, respectively.[1]

Here's to hoping that 10 year expousure studies arent terrifying. The massive public uptake of this drug is a bit concerning, but it really does seem almost miraculous in its ability to treat so many things

It’s been noted that these drugs have been out for 20 years and in pretty widespread use for managing diabetes for well over a decade now, so they’re not particularly novel as drugs and have been pretty well studied. I’m still sitting on my hands until we see a little more data from the current crop of non-diabetic users, but we do have a relatively long clinical history with them.
It seems the population using the GLP1 drugs are predisposed to pancreatitis. Causes of pancreatitis include Diabetes, obesity, heavy alcohol use. The first cause is the on label use of GLP1 drugs. The second two are off label uses for the drug. Article doesn't seem to touch coloration of these health issues and the use of the drug.
