- Stay away from all the newsletters who pump the latest news. There's a ton of them there. They just mostly use AI to summarise the arxiv papers and discord channels.
- Look for blogs from people building in AI, builders who are commenting on AI, but not "selling AI".
- If you need keep up with the latest, subscribe to the blogs / newsletters of the big companies. Not a lot of them there - Anthropic, OpenAI, Deepmind, Groq, Cerebrus etc.
And you will still be left behind. I’ve been in this field for close to 30 years. I’ve only survived as an IC by jumping on whatever the tech du jour was.
I started my career programming on mainframes in C and Fortran in the 1990s and have been on every bandwagon since then. My latest is specializing in AWS + app dev consulting. Right now I’m leading a Kubernetes + AI project.
And last year I spent most of the year embedding an LLM into hosted AWS Connect call centers.
Not specific to AI, but for the business side of tech and AI, I subscribe to the Stratechery bundle.
Ben Thompson is not a developer. But he understands technology deeply including processor technology, manufacturing, Asian culture and how it affects technology (he’s an American living in Taiwan).

I just don't want to train models or do prompt engineering. I would be happy with setting up AI infra ... maybe.
