But I also want to point out, many other models like Llama aren’t open source either. They only release weights and don’t use OSI approved licenses. They aren’t sharing the code or data that produced the model.

They've got classic innovator's dilemma
He probably meant to say I am wrong concerning open source but then his inner llm kicked in.

Maybe Linus will get sick of the state of LLM’s and create one himself to lead kernel development…
