While the headline seems a bit extreme, I thought this was very interesting.
A similar phenomenon I think: Some time ago there was a report that AI was able to detect lung cancer from x-rays earlier and more reliably than a human radiologist could. The strange thing was that the AI relied on patterns in the imagery that did not correspond to anything in the corpus of training that doctors receive.
