It has been available on a bunch of non-Apple platforms pretty much since they launched Apple TV+ and Apple has had Android apps for Apple Music for some time too.

Not sure it matters. It's still way too tied to the Apple ecosystem to be useful. I wanted to get a family subscription about a year ago and it was basically impossible to manage the subscription without an Apple device of some sort. Which sucks because I really thought it was worth the value at the time, just not the hassle.
