Ill informed on the inefficiency that seems to be Doge, but isn’t all this moot if we spend like 50 billion dollars on missles and shit? Like.. $3 mil here and there is like .01% of the actual waste
The new GOP budget envisions a "$4 trillion increase in the debt limit", so yeah, $3 mil here and there do not really compare to the amount being "spent" (income lost in future budget compared with existing) on tax cuts.
Wasn't the GOP just recently hell bent on stopping an increase to the debt limit because it was so utterly awful already that the country was on the verge of collapse?
You're wasting your time if you are trying to find any consistent logic to their stated positions other than "we will say and do whatever we want to reduce taxes on he rich".
Isn’t the US GDP relative to debt all that matters? The USA is nowhere near broke or collapse (from a fiscal perspective). The GOP seems to create a boogeyman, repeat it, then use it to advance their agenda.
The big-ticket items in the Federal budget are the military, old-age pensions, and medical spending; everything else is pretty much a rounding error. All three of those categories are rife with multi-billion dollar waste and fraud, but have powerful bipartisan political armor. I am looking forward to seeing what happens when Doge grasps one of these third rails.
For whatever reason, the Trump administration is using military aircraft to deport people… which costs 2x to 3x the amount of simply chartering civilian aircraft… a practice that ICE already uses.
Two flights start at the same place, and fly to the same destination country: civilian charter cost $55k; military transport cost $166k. One-way.
The military flight to India used two sets of mid-air refuelling tankers was estimated to cost $3M:
$500,000 to empower women in Israel? An NEA grant to North Macedonia? An attempt to treat queer mental health by reducing stigma? Who’s against these things? The only thing I see funky is the $3 million supposedly spent to defund police, which obviously didn’t work that well because spending more is not defunding.
> Shelled out tens of thousands to create army of 2,500 LGBTQI+ allies
The upper bound of "tens of thousands" would be 90k, right? At least I don't think you'd call 200k or more "tens of thousands", right?
With 90k it would be be $36 for every "LGBTQI+ ally" they "created", whatever that even means. Which is the problem with basically all this stuff, it's just titles, at best with descriptions so sloppy and short they're useless, too. Like someone asking you to run coolgame.exe because obviously it's a cool game.
So...they paid some people $36, and they then started to seed the gay trans agenda everywhere for the rest of their life? They'd probably have done it for free, but they laughed when they stole the $36 from the American tax payer. Or maybe that it's so little money is how you know it's satanic or something? Like homeopathy, maybe that's the really strong stuff... because they obviously get their money from Satan anyway, but the US tax payer needs to be made to contribute something, like a contract, so the sin of what the gay trans allies are doing drags their souls down to hell, too.
Sorry for getting carried away there, but to me this is like spam from a Nigerian prince. It's total bullshit for anyone who isn't already fanatically onboard, but those aren't the target audience. The target audience just goes "aye Sir, that's so brilliant", and the gulf between the rest of society that creates binds them more tightly to those who use them. And so ratchet and racket go.

Optics. It’s just optics. It makes the admin look “tough”.
