Ask HN: Where do people get motivation

The current trend is everything web. It seems much more productive also. Most of the tools don't even require compilation atleast upto a certain scale. What about people who work in more native areas, embedded systems, robotics, aerospace industry. Where do they get the motivation when all around they see that "only web is making people richer and famous".
