I feel sorry for billionaires.. I mean.. just leave them alone! Someone that wealthy is clearly better than you and deserves your respect! They should be able to spend their money and do whatever the hell they want!

Without regard for humanity as a whole or the consequences! I mean the world is a rich man's playground after all! I mean c'mon just leave these poor billionaires alone!

I wish the billionaires would leave us alone.
> we need to shine a light on evil and wrongdoers globally and imprison them

bro you need to turn of your computer. what the heck are you concerning yourself with here actually? Look outside your window, THAT is your TRUE reality. (as an exercise point your finger at anyone who you want imprison...).

Those, who are endlessly shouting at each other on Twitter etc., arguing with AI bots, addicted to things irrelevant to their lifes ... are just lost. Don't be one of them. Tune out and focus on things that actually matter to you.

The billionaire class controls most of the media and many politicians. They are remaking the world with little consideration for you or I. They have a very real effect on the real world outside your window.

"...narcissists with extreme wealth running riot without consideration for humanity as a whole. "

Is this article attention seeking or entitled? Both are traits of narcissistic behavior

“The ultimate, hidden truth of the world is that it is something that we make, and could just as easily make differently.” ― David Graeber

Time to make a different world, that doesn't just suit the 1%. And I say that as someone who is probably in that 1% globally ( https://www.givingwhatwecan.org/how-rich-am-i ).

Yes I'm also in the 1% and I wrote the article... I guess there is the 0.001% that need's addressing first. I don't know if that makes me an entitled narc for writing the article. Genuinely if Wanted attention I could do it in a million other different ways and I just want humanity to evolve.
To be fair, there was only one fly-by with this accusation. Perhaps you retracted the post too soon..?
The "1%" yardstick is what it is, some 80 million of the wealthiest people are part of it. I think talking about the 0.001% is more interesting, representing the bulk of the wealth of the 1%...
The only solution is better community building.
I wish there was more thought with regard to building better geographically colocated communities and not just “digital communities”.
> "Or a completely new form of currency (or many new forms) including bartering should be created. The entire financial and economic power structures that exist today should be made null and void."

That's what the billionaires want; "Peter Thiel stated in his book, Zero to One: “PayPal had a suitably grand mission — We wanted to create a new internet currency to replace the US dollar.” PayPal’s “co-founder” was Elon Musk, showing both parties aimed to replace the US dollar from a very early date in their careers. Marc Andreessen has also been instrumental in financing the rise of Bitcoin." "Peter Thiel has also been a central figure, stating in 2022 “Bitcoin is the most honest market in the world. It’s the most efficient market… It is telling us that the central banks are bankrupt, that we are at the end of the fiat money regime.”"

Tearing down the financial and economic power structures that exist today is what Musk and Thiel and Andreessen and Srinivasan and Ellison have been funding with this Trump administration; not even in the shadows. And replace it with dictatorships which they rule without regard to the residents opinions:

"“The basic idea of Patchwork is that, as the crappy governments we inherited from history are smashed, they should be replaced by a global spiderweb of tens, even hundreds, of thousands of sovereign and independent mini-countries, each governed by its own joint-stock corporation without regard to the residents’ opinions. If residents don’t like their government, they can and should move." (“[A patchwork] may also import menial laborers, as Dubai does today, but they are not to be confused with the actual residents.”)

The point in the article is those billionaires should not be allowed to influence a system being organically created by real people. Whether it be patchwork or whatever the outcome of that organic process is.
Why has this been flagged? Does it touch a raw nerve for YCombinator?

leave billionaires alone!

I have an odd paradox for you... those who take lives will lose their own. Those who kill, will die. But he who gives his own life away will live again!" - from the short story: the skull (1952) by Philip K. Dick.

I mean c'mon just leave these poor billionaires alone!

... just kidding obviously. This is what I really think...

I'm sick and tired of what the internet has become. Huge corporations, psychopaths, autocrats, narcissists with extreme wealth running riot without consideration for humanity as a whole. A lack of ethics, compassion and intelligence that is entrenched and normalised.

I'm interested in privacy and the internet fulfilling its potential as a positive force for humanity as a bedrock for man to evolve intellectually. Solving problems that effect us all and creating a harmonious and safe world for scientific advancements to occur. That being said science is too materialistic to be the only driving force and it has become a cult explaining away everything it can so spiritual enquiry can be stifled. The world I'm thinking of is full of intelligence, compassion for different spiritual beliefs and co-existing with those you may disagree with and a backed by strong ethical considerations.

War, poverty and toxic human behaviour cannot thrive so readily in the world that I'm thinking of because the light of pure human positivity and progress will be too strong. There is a balance to be struck whereby we do not loose free will in the process. Free will includes the ability to make mistakes, do bad things and say things other's do not want to hear.

I'm not talking about a world where bad things never happen or where evil things cannot or cannot be allowed to exist. That could be going too far the other way. I'm simply talking about a world where humanity is evolving and with it so will humanities problems and challenges.

Now is the time to finally stop those weapons grade narcissists who use social engineering, think tanks, political and economic influence to try to control the narrative use humanities innate goodness against itself. Those who are worried about climate change and harm to the planet are being gaslit into making tiny inconsequential changes like recycling used plastic containers while those with extreme wealth build cruise liners and build coal power stations and worse.

I'm just calling out that the world cannot continue like this and rationale and moral people need to connect and band together from all corners of the world. The majority of us can accept each other's spiritual and cultural differences and recognise that we all want a fair, humane and just society for future generations. We want to treat each other like we wish to be treated and that objectively speaking: war, killing, manipulation and so forth are "bad".

Extreme wealth and a de-humanized and de-evolving humanity can be be rectified. Humanity has never been consistently humane, peaceful and ethically or intellectually wise at any point in human history. That's why it's difficult to break free from the groupthink and patterns.

When those who have had extreme power offer solutions of any kind they should be rejected entirely. Those that have conspired to keep humanity down should be imprisoned. Only a grass roots solution involving real change by individuals who are actual citizens and members of real society should collaborate and create a way out of this mess.

Those that were complicit or created this mess should not have any democratic access or influence of the new system that needs designing from the ground up.

The assets of those with more than say 2 bill...
