In my mind it's the most beautiful building in Germany. Change my mind. ;)
I knew for years that this building exists, at least by name, but nothing prepared me when I visited and event at the neighboring fairground in 2018 turning a corner and suddenly see this spaceship hulking in the fog.
The West Berlin building, the subject of the video is a complete abomination inside and out. It's a flat version of the Bonaventure hotel without that building's attractive exterior.
What's funny is that the East Berlin counterpart, built first and shown in the video, is actually a lovely example of modernism and the international style, both new at the time. So that was demolished and we get the Brutalist, abandoned thing in West Berlin instead.
