Ask HN: Is futurism Banned on HN?

I recently submitted an article from futurism dot com [0]. I later noticed that HN comments weren't available for it (something I'd never seen).

I then searched here for other articles from futurism dot com (just click the domain in the post) and realized that they were nearly all marked dead.

I haven't researched the site—the article just popped up in my feed. Is it banned here? If so, why?

I think because most of the content from it is low quality. Medium blog post are often immediately down-ranked.

It looks like something changed 5 months ago. There were a series of futurism.com articles submitted by new users who then went on to submit a string of suspicious Github links. I'm guessing futurism.com was banned for being associated with that. It's possible they (or one of their marketers) were actually involved, or it's possible they were just an innocent bystander being used as cover. Either way, you have a better chance of getting an answer if you ask Dan by email (hn@ycombinator.com).
