Ask HN: Modern Tech Stack for Manufacturing?
It's almost a truism that software built for software engineers is best-in-class. Think linear.app or whatever.
Next best is that software that software engineers can image using or have been exposed to. So, software to book hair salon appointments. CRMs. Stripe.
Unfortunately, manufacturing (10% of US GDP) belongs to the third category of software: software that software engineers don't know exists and can't imagine using.
Is anyone working on modern, cloud-based, manufacturing software?
Ideally:
- Works for small, lean projects
- Web-based
- No "Call us" pricing page
- Uses manufacturing terminology (ie, "issues" have pretty specific meanings in mfg! We don't talk about "bugs!")
