Similar to the Sears bit in the article: My company's phone number was one digit off a national-scale garage door manufacturer's RMA line. Even though the auto attendant clearly says our company name (which sounds nothing like the garage door company's name) we would get a couple messages a week to the general delivery mailbox from Lowes and Home Depot stores around the country. The garage door company must have changed the number because the calls tapered-off after a couple of years.

I lot of people just used the tones at the start of their outgoing message to keep robocalls at bay. I've never heard of anyone getting harassed by the FCC for it though.
