Lots of people have posted videos on social media showing this is (was?) very real. It seems intentional. And the PR isn’t great, considering just today Apple affirmed it will be sticking to DEI policies. I doubt any high up leader would approve this kind of “feature” but the culture of the company, including DEI culture, probably enabled an employee or two to build this in. And now we can expect some convoluted explanation of how this wasn’t a purposeful political thing, even though it seems like such issues always target one side.
That's the exact kind of factless and biased emotional manipulation fascists use to justify censorship and oppression which then in turn breeds more fascism. "There's some imaginary fascism out there that we need to ban". OK fascist.
Kind of doubtful that this was intentional, unless it was done by some one employee and somehow wasn't spotted. American tech is rolling out the red carpet for the current US admin, and I don't think Apple is going to be an exception. Probably another "bush hid the facts" event.

I was be inclined think the same, until I remember how Google went on stage with their AI image generator that was banned from generating white people while only generating Asian, African and native American people, to which I thought there was no way someone didn't notice such an obvious bias programmed in before launch, or how Alexa would refuse to tell you good things about Trump when asked, claiming it doesn't discuss politics, but would gladly tell you all the good things about Kamala.
The most likely explanation is that stuff like this was indeed noticed by other people but who shared the same ideological and political biases and wanted this to go into production as a way to "own the chuds", or they knew it was wrong but dared not to speak up for fear of being labeled "-ists" or "-fobes" by the ideologically driven mobs in the org.
It's not just one rogue individual with a bias getting away with it, since there's too many points on the graph already, and they're all forming a line pointing in the same direction, it's the entire orgs infected with the same disease.

What you're advocating for is censorship in the name of what you consider to be political correctness, which is exactly what the Nazis did.
