Why is it that clicking on the title of HN entry takes you to the external link, but clicking on the actual link in front of it, takes you to the discussion?

Where clicking "(domain.foo)" takes me to a list of other posts from that domain (e.g: https://news.ycombinator.com/from?site=youtube.com). To get to discussion I click "5 comments", which seems sensible.
