Read the original source, it's just another malicious script that the user needs to run manually. Oh, it doesn't make use of any OS/kernel vulnerabilities either.
It's like putting "rm -rf /" in a script and calling it "malware".
When they say backdoor do they really mean virus / RAT / malware? If there is a backdoor in Linux that would be very big news. If it's a RAT [1] that's PEBKAC [2] and not a Linux Backdoor. If there is a Linux Backdoor one should be able to link to it under this directory [3].
