It's highly predicated on local issues. I am in the path of a category 2 cyclone expected to arrive tomorrow morning, obviously I consume news more frequently than others might in other circumstances.

For mental health, I suggest not surfing all day. A breakfast ritual to catch up and an evening news bulletin is old school but not bad. I read far too often ordinarily.

I‘d say: reflect on how you feel after watching the news. If you feel depressed or hopeless, reduce the intake, if you don‘t, keep it as is.
