It's unfathomable that anyone would suggest that the US should just let cartels run rough shot over the American population because tourists want to travel to risky places that no sane person should ever travel to.
Mexico is the way it is because the people who live there by and large want to make it the way it is. It's not something inherent to the soil that makes it that way. Mexico can thrive if Mexicans choose to make it thrive.
Every single person who can effect change and publicly opposes the cartel gets killed. Every single one. There is a list [0] of the ones killed in 2024 alone. Even outside of politics, you can't even really joke about the cartel while in Mexico, no matter who you are. They torture and kill entire families over nothing.

The idea that the US border is not being defended is a huge lie. Another lie is that its possible to defend the US border. The US border is huge and US unlike Ukraine is not being invaded. Immigrants coming over the border are harder to track then groups of tanks. We spend and arguably waste billions on billions of dollars on border security in america with nothing or negative results. That's not because of some nefarious pro immigrant agenda its because practically the border isn't securable.
As for Ukraine, discouraging Russian aggression is in the intrest of America
