I think lightbulb cameras would be better for long term surveillance.

Naturally connected to a long term power supply and easier to hide cabled networking to avoid emissions.

Extracting faces might be more difficult, but that’s “just a software problem”.

Covered with eyes: biblically correct angel food cake.
once the article started listing the software and hardware components, I was expecting a recipe for the cake too :)
You can print images on cakes.

You could make a cake that takes pictures and gives you a cake with the picture.

What is this Viam? Looks like something like NodeRed? There are too many AI related buzzwords in the website and I am genuinely not able to understand what the product and the (opensource?) viam-server is about.
Their platform overview page does a decent job of talking about it without buzzwords.

Basically, device drivers, data sync, control logic and ML inference all in one plus the glue to use it all together.

I agree that they would benefit from a page dedicated more towards engineers and less towards marketers.

I appreciate the hardware side but shuddered when I read the words “cake mix.”
if "competition is for losers" is the axiom, "confectionary roboticist" literally takes the cake. very cool. very inspirational
