Ask HN: Discord vs Slack for a Startup

I asked multiple people—most YC founders told me to use Discord, a VC told me to use Microsoft Teams, and two other funds told me to use Slack.

So, what’s your take?

You will face much harder decisions in your business. Are you going to ask several investors whether to hire an assistant, or rent an office, as well?

It's started like a casual talk, and I just wanted to know the felling of the community :)

Ask your team. This is not a decision that will make or break your company... just pick whatever the team likes. After all, they will be using it, not your VCs or other founders.

We do not have any employees yet. My friends and I would choose Discord, but maybe I have overlooked an incredible feature of Slack.

Use Slack if you need structured team communication, business integrations, and a professional workspace.

Use Discord if your startup values real-time collaboration, voice chat, and a casual work culture.
