Irrelevant and sounds like a personal attack. They're not in the business of selling domains. They're making a platform for social apps.
Selling domains is the only revenue model they've offered as far as I know. if they have no intention of making money I'm really curious how they got funding from VCs.

I thought this was a good question for ChatGPT's "deep research," so I asked it to give a breakdown of their corporate structure and profit requirements [0]. I think the result was pretty informative. Took 11 minutes and consulted 24 sources to complete.

The TL;DR is that they are a public benefit corporation and have to balance that benefit (decentralized public communication platforms) with profit.

More people are capable of buying T-shirts than have the understanding to buy and operate their own domain. This doesn’t seem like a surprise to me.

Let me know when Bluecry is actually adopted by the masses.

T shirts don’t fund social media platforms

What are your criteria for "adopted by the masses"? I'm on there regularly and it seems lively enough.
Lmao zuckerberg thinks he is Caesar because he runs a website and made hot or not?

Bullying nerds should never have completely gone away.

Bullying nerds is how you get anti social billionaire supervillains.
Could be worse; Musk appears to be a _Sulla_ fanboy (Sulla’s major contribution to history was originating, or at least popularising, the charming Roman tradition of proscription, where you just make it legal to murder your enemies.)

A somewhat less successful dictator than JC, but a significantly nastier one.

This seems like a fun way to monetize the platform, especially if they aren’t running ads.

I’d imagine it’s easier convincing people to buy fun swag than to persuade people to sign up for a subscription tier or throw money into a donation jar.

I mean, hardly surprising; the sort of people who want to use a custom domain with Bluesky generally will have a favoured registrar anyway, and will just use that instead of bluesky’s one.
