Welcome to the real world. The vast majority of all political donations from tech companies and employees go to the left ( source: https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus?ind=B13 ). Techies who are somewhere in the middle of the political spectrum or on the right have dealt with these feelings for decades, and they've never gotten an article like this about how depressed they are.

People like Zuck change positions based on whoever is in power. In 2020, Meta was very pro-censorship and worked with the Biden admin on censoring users, and BAM! in late 2024 - just a really big coincidence that had nothing to do with the election I am sure - Zuck released a statement and a video against censorship and Meta changed their policies to better align with free speech. If liberals win the next election, rest assured they will go back to supporting whatever the party in power favors. The political winds changed, and big tech needs to stay in the good graces of whoever is in power. That's just reality.

Sheltered young people learn that work isn't a Disney cruise.
It's the same experience that people on the other politics spectrum endured in the previous cycle. There is not difference, except from the side that is suffering now.

People were fired for speaking against woke culture, now they are fired because they speak for it. And woke culture is just one controversial thing, it can be anything. Religion, politics, any topic that fragment a group can be seized to exercise power over it.

The way to change it is to identify the common experience across differences, being fired for expressing one's ideas, and to fight against that... fight for the right of free speech for both for those you agree and those you disagree with, and you have to accept others when they express the opposite view. Speech should be free. Power is dialectic: contrary to violence, it works through meaning and eloquence.
