> We have the world's largest dataset for EEG

How?

Similar to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conor_Russomanno views on the hype around using EEG. No product to show for it, as far as I know.

IMO, these guys are so far up their each others' ass that all they smell is their own excrement. Show the science. Kill the hype.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

I think maybe they have access to a large dataset, rather than that they have captured it themselves.

I'm not sure we have enough knowledge of how the thought works to understand thought from images. They may just as well be encoding the pixels and thinking they are reading what the brain understands.

Is this start-up actually measuring the brain's ability to understand the context or even memory of an image? I don't believe so, we don't have the core understanding of how thoughts work in order to base our understanding on how thought relates to electrical signals.

We can train a robotic arm to move based on our triggering electrical signals via neurofeedback, but that is a very different proposition.

I've recently suggested that we, as humans, apply our understanding of the world to our understanding of how our physiology/biology works. When we understood pumps, we said "the heart is a pump, and it carries blood and oxygen, etc etc". Then, when we learned about electricity, we slapped our collective foreheads and thought "of course! it's electric!!"

I believe we will discover a further layer and how we can apply quantum to our understanding of how thought works, but I think we'll need to know about much more than just electrical signaling.

At https://affectablesleep.com, we use the brain's electrical data to find the precise moment to provide auditory stimulation to enhance the brain's restorative function, so I'm in no way saying the electrical signaling data is not valuable, it can be very valuable if applied to the right problems.

Am I missing something? Do we know enough about how the mind works to measure and interpret thoughts?
