Could you please read the essay “On the Marionette Theater” by Heinrich von Kleist, and then think about how it relates to LLM’s and artificial intelligence. Although the essay primarily deals with physical affectations and “the soul”, I can’t help but feel that a link can be made in the way that LLM engineers are attempting to brute force a soul into being. On the other hand, the sheer amount of knowledge in one “place” in an LLM may end up transcending some of the early awkwardness, if that makes any sense.
