If they left/are leaving because of the shadiness wouldn't that reflect positively on their character?
IMHO, absolutely, if that's the reason.
No, I don't on its face. However, it will get me to ask them additional questions trying to determine if their ethical/moral sensibilities are aligned with the questionable company or not.
