Like most things in democracies this relies on the judicialk system being able to enforce and make correct rulings.

But Trump is calling out 'Corrupt Judges' and giveing pardons to all. So how would thins be enforced.

Also in US judges are elected usually as members of a party, will they take action against members of their own party.

What consequence would a lying politician face, if they refused to retract their lie and the court found they were lying?

Worth noting that this process gives politicians a license to lie during the last week before an election.
