Once again, a Western journalist treats his non-Western guest with judgmental condescension. Democracies can have many different implementations; it's very presumptuous to assume that any country that does not follow Western prescriptions on how to arrange its politics must ipso facto be authoritarian.

Having read many of Lee Kuan Yew's interviews, I admire the man's ability to unfailingly, assertively call out his interlocutors' hypocrisy.
