Ask HN: Can we please come up with a better name than "Vibe Coding"?

I don't think "vibe coding" deserves a better name.

nope. why should people put more care into the name than into the product the process actually creates?
"Better" could mean two very different things here depending on whether you think vibe coding is a good idea or not.
I thought the whole point was to give it as cringy name as possible to discourage people from using AI and instead learn to program properly. It was called prompt engineering before but I suppose it didn't sound discouraging enough.
Broadside coding?

It appropriately invokes the scattershot nature of generative tooling (“this code couldn't parse the broadside of a barn”) and the violent and malicious nature of the ones in-control of such things (“I stumbled on an indie site! Bring the broadside to bear! All scrapers, free-fire!”)…

All the best,

-HG

Why? I think it sounds cool. Are you embarrassed that it doesn't sound "corporate" enough?
PS. The existence itself of a name not containing "AI" (itself) is a telltale sign of AI becoming "normalized" (ie. "commonplace" ...)
No, that isn't how language works.

Besides, we already have to take "enshittification" seriously as a technical term of art, I don't see why "vibe coding" should be improved upon.
