That's not really the purpose of HN though, no? Lots of places are great at delivering important info, HN is just some random forum.

"other than users are bored of the topic and it's too repetitive". That's a reasonable explanation though. I already see Trump/Elon/US-Politics news on every other social media and don't want HN to turn political. HN users flag stories about earthquakes, protests (e.g. Hong Kong), war, terrorist attacks because other media is reporting them plenty already. I see HN as addition to other media not a full replacement were most events of the world need to be posted.
